The MVA gallery in Bethlehem, PA invited artists to explore, in art, the essence of a woman -- her physical, psychological and spiritual characteristics.
A simple portrait of a woman in tranquil repose or a complex image of her actively performing personal and professional roles. She can reveal vulnerability or strength. Or she can communicate a universe of other traits, emotions, aspirations and challenges as you portray a woman's exterior and interior realities.
In addition, images can examine issues such as cultural influences affecting a woman including societal expectations and pervasive stereotypes. Through the diverse approaches of portraiture, artists can raise provocative questions about identity and perception.
