now you see me… (2022)
Now You See Me confronts the intersection of consumerism, fashion, and identity. Using an original advertisement for Christian Dior sunglasses as its foundation, Hannah transforms a symbol of luxury into a meditation on visibility and selfhood. The model, still adorned with the iconic sunglasses, becomes both a reflection of aspirational culture and a figure lost within it.
The sunglasses, designed to shield and obscure, serve as a metaphor for the curated personas we present to the world. In a society obsessed with image and status, the figure’s identity is both highlighted and hidden, inviting viewers to question what is truly seen when we view others through layers of branding and commercial influence.
Hannah’s collage fractures the original context, turning a polished ad into a commentary on the commodification of identity. Now You See Me challenges the viewer to consider whether luxury enhances individuality or erases it, and whether true visibility can ever be achieved in a world where perception is so often filtered through the lens of consumer culture.
